Date Square and the Earl Came to Tea...With Rob

I have been feeling that it was time for a tea party....a lily-of-the-valley tea party to be precise, but then my plan went well awry when only two pink lily-of-the-valley flowers showed up & NO white ones. Who knows how that happened! Anyway, since I have been feeling so poorly over the last few weeks, life, in general, has been reduced to small bites & one day at a time, which is a most peculiar state of affairs that's for sure. Sunday was so bright & shiny beautiful so we decided to go for a wee Sunday drive & headed to a little place about half an hour away called Otane. I had heard that there was a local market there each week. It was nice & so were the people & the wonderful fresh veges. On our way home we stopped in at The Paper Mulberry for a cup of tea. The little orange fellow was our table marker.
We found a spot in the garden with a delightful rural outlook
And in true country style a little laundry.
At the end of the drive & just across the way is a beautiful old Chapel belonging to Te Aute boys College.
Now, I am feeling immensely grateful to my darling for his infinitely steady & tender care in these past weeks so when I heard about a virtual tea party going on, hosted by (none other than) Mum from Mum's Simply Living Blog, I decided I'd love to join in, that way, I could finally get around to making our date square recipe for the kitchen blog & reward Rob in a manner he would truly appreciate (please do not ever consider losing your appetite for long periods I assure you it is a most dreary past time!)

In fact you could....
One of my SARK cards.
So I have invited Rob : )
I'll be the adventure!
Do you like my flowery circle?
I decided lily-of-the-valley would do splendidly after all.

And by the way, the sugar bowl's name is Norman...it's stamped on his bottom : )
 Earl Gray Superior tea today.
It was so nice to do something lovely today.
There are so many beautiful flowers in the garden.

The date square is scrummy you can find the recipe in our kitchen blog right here.
If you'd like to visit with others for tea do pop over here to find the links at Mum's.
Lovely to see you.
MUCH

  7. Hello Catherine and thanks for stopping by my blog.

Your tea party table is gorgeous but I do have one, or rather two, rather personal questions.

Was it you who stamped Norman's name on his bottom and did he mind?

  9. Oh My! Catherine this post is so beautiful... I wish you would have linked this one up. Your tablescape was stunning, I thought the flower petals on the ground was very enchanting. I would have loved to been enjoying a cup of tea with you! My grandmother use to to say to me when petals are on the ground you will receive very good news. Oh do tell! :)
    Have a wonderful day,
    Hugs Rosemary...xxx

  10. Amazing views. Our November is so cold and dark, every morning is fog. It is amazing that you have a party in the garden, when here in Poland the plants are all asleep. I love your photos so much!

  12. What a lovely blog and lots of gorgeous photos. I love flowers as I am an artist myself and this is all I paint. I do have a blog, it started about my art but seems to have developed a life of its own and I am able to pursue a lot of my passion through it.

I will be coming back for more, your photos are inspiring me to get painting again as I have been going through a dry period.
